Driven by technological innovations in response to Smart City challenges, connected and autonomous vehicles technologies, relevant data analytics and traffic network resilience, traffic information engineering and control disciplines have developed rapidly in the past decade. In responding to the subsequent challenges, the Chinese Overseas Transportation Association (COTA) Technical Committee on Traffic Operations and ITS (COTA-TC01) has decided to set up the Traffic Information Engineering and Control Forum series in conjunction with the COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals (CICTP). The first meeting of the Forum series will be held on July 8, during the CICTP 2016inShanghai, jointly hosted and organized by Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) and COTA. This Forum will serve as a major platform to facilitate the interactive discussion and exchange of research ideas and technology development, encourage multi-dimension collaborations and knowledge sharing, and enhance research, education, and outreach activities in transportation information and control disciplines.
